Did you know that kindness works? When we are kind to one person, it has a tendency to carry over to another and so on. It has been said that a smile goes a long way. It is the same for an act of kindness.
Our greatest example of kindness is Jesus Christ. Jesus, God’s only son, came to this earth to introduce us to a way of living that was not very popular. Jesus said in John 15:12, “love one another as I have loved you.” In Matthew 22, He said “love your neighbor as yourself.” Jesus lived a life of love, care, and sacrifice. We are reminded of how we are to live like him by the Apostle Paul in Ephesians 4:32: “And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.”
Here at Campbell Baptist Church, we know that kindness does work. We’ve seen how the effects of kindness can help and encourage others. We take advantage of different opportunities throughout the year to be a blessing to others through acts of kindness. Sometimes it’s in our day-to-day lives and sometimes it’s for an event we are working with.
This past November, we took part in Operation Christmas Child, an opportunity to bring hope to children around the world in war torn or poverty stricken countries. We worked with our community to pack shoe boxes of toys, personal hygiene items, school supplies and more to send to these children. We were able to collect 365 boxes, one for every day of the year. We are so excited that we have had the opportunity to make an impact on a child’s life and impact families across the globe.
Operation Christmas Child works with a non-profit organization called Samaritan’s Purse that continues to make an impact on families across the world through medical supplies, cleanup and aid after natural disasters, and even helps local veterans get the help they need. For more information about how you can help with Samaritan’s Purse, click this link: Samaritan’s Purse.
We’ve also had the opportunity to hand out “goodie baskets” filled with kind bars, granola bars, candy, juices, sodas, and much more to those in need and also local businesses that are our neighbors in the city of Campbell. These baskets are a way for us to thank and encourage members and neighbors in our community.
Earlier this year, we raised money for the JW House, a non-profit housing group that helps to temporarily home families that have sick loved ones in bay area hospitals. The JW House offers a compassionate environment to help families stay together while going through troubling times.
